Une partie importante du pavillon de l’UQTR à Drummondville portera le nom de « Place Soucy ».

As a gesture of thanks for the great contribution of the Soucy group to the campus building of the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières in Drummondville, the Rector of the University, Mr. Daniel McMahon, has officially presented the "Place Soucy" (name that will define a group of areas : the coffee space, the entry hall, the main hall, the outdoor square and the promenade along the pavilion).

The announcement was made on October 5th during a tribute ceremony to the top four donors to this important project in Drummondville, which aims to provide educational services at University level in the city.

Mr. Gilles Soucy, the founder of the Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors, was awarded a recognition plaque for his involvement and leadership which will facilitate the access to education to the surrounding population, a cause that is very dear to him.

"We are very pleased to show our gratitude to the exceptional donors who's engagement has been the determining factor of the realization of the campus UQTR in Drummondville. Their names will always be associated with different sections of the campus to remind us how generous and visionary they were" said Francine Ruest Jutras, Chair of the Board of Directors of UQTR.

The new campus offers complete academic programs in nursing, in pre-school and primary education, in accounting sciences and business administration as well as an Executive MBA and certificates, among others.

The fundraising campaign for the establishment of the campus in Drummondville took place for over 5 years and has brought in nearly $8 million.
