Soucy earns the highest recognition from the Groupe entreprises en santé

The Groupe entreprises en santé, an organization whose mission is to promote global health in the workplace, has awarded Soucy with the level 3 recognition.

After reaching levels 1 and 2 in 2019, Soucy receives this recognition for its efforts to promote healthy lifestyle habits to its employees and their families.

Soucy thus becomes the first manufacturing company in Quebec to reach this level thanks to all its employees and managers who believe in a workplace where health and well-being are important.

Customized activities and programs

During an organizational survey conducted among all employees in 2017, the majority of them emphasized the company's low level of involvement in promoting healthy lifestyles. Management wanted to quickly turn the tide by creating a health and wellness committee and launching the Healthy Enterprise Approach. 

As a result, activities and programs that address the needs of employees and their families have been developed in four areas of health and wellness:

  • Healthy lifestyle habits
  • The work environment
  • Management practices
  • Work/family balance and psychological health

Employee and Family Assistance Program

Among the measures and programs put in place, the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) was a resounding success in its first year, with a satisfaction rate of over 97%. Our employees and their families now have access to a variety of resources to help them with psychological health, smoking cessation, nutrition, legal assistance, etc. 

My Flexibility Program

Nowadays, work-family balance is an important issue for any employer seeking to stand out in an increasingly demanding job market. 

With this in mind, in 2019, Soucy introduced My Flexibility program. This program offers three measures: teleworking, compressed schedules and flexible hours. A majority of our employees use it every week.

The Soucy Recognition

For several years now, Soucy employees have been recognized for their loyalty and good work through various celebrations. Our managers and supervisors know how much their employees need this recognition. Last year, one of these signs of appreciation took place during the traditional Christmas dinner where 80 employees with 15 years of seniority or more were celebrated in front of more than 1,000 of their colleagues.

 

Healthy Lifestyle Habits

Recently, in order to encourage exercise during the lockdown, our Health and Wellness Committee organized the "5 Weeks of Challenges", a competition that was attended by more than 200 employees (from their homes). This contest allowed participants to earn points for their branch by practising various physical activities each week. Together, the employees accumulated nearly 3 000 hours of physical activity in 5 weeks!

Several activities to promote healthy lifestyle habits are organized by Soucy subsidiaries: group classes during lunch breaks, information on nutrition, prevention of mental health problems, ergonomic workstation, etc.

These are just a few examples showing that at Soucy, employee well-being is a key value.

 

Can we do more?

Of course, we can! This level 3 recognition from the Groupe entreprises en santé only highlights our commitment to improving health and well-being in the workplace. We will be able to say that Soucy has a real "health and wellness culture" when the majority of employees have a constant preoccupation to improve their physical and psychological health and that they put efforts to achieve it.
